In the workplace, poor writing can delay projects, create misunderstandings and even affect business decisions. This is why technical and business writing has become an essential employability skill.

This module prepares you to communicate professionally through clear, accurate and purpose-driven writing. It consists of eight interconnected competencies: writing foundations, audience and purpose awareness, technical documentation, business communication, data and information presentation, digital and AI-assisted writing, editing and quality assurance, and the development of a workplace writing portfolio.

In educational institutions, students focus primarily on academic writing, while the workplace demands concise, action-oriented and reader-focused communication. As a result, graduates often struggle to produce documents that are clear, professional and aligned with organisational standards. This module bridges that gap by replacing purely theoretical writing with authentic workplace tasks, real-world scenarios and industry-standard documentation.
